The Green-Meldrim House, an 1853 Gothic Revival Mansion, was the headquarters of General William T. Sherman when the Federal army occupied Savannah during the Civil War. We noticed it as we were walking through Madison Square and saw the historical marker. My husband and I enjoyed the tour (we were the only ones on the tour), led by enthusiastic volunteers... 更多

When visiting Savannah this is a house tour not to be missed! A lovely home that since the 1850's has had only two families as owners and now owned by St. John's Church. While the home does not contain many of the previous owner's furnishings, other than a modern kitchen the home is in it's original state. The architecture is... 更多

The tour was wonderful and the home was beautiful. I had never seen pocket windows before I came to this house. Also the crown molding is the most intricate design I've ever seen. A definate must!

The home has been in existence since before the Civil War and was lived in by several generations of one family, the Greens, before being bought by the Meldrin family. It is now the parish house of a Methodist Church. It's a beautiful home, and the tour is very informative. It's like stepping back in time.

This historic home is toured with different docents upstairs and downstairs, which results in a longer tour and provides lots of interesting information. This was one of my favorite of the homes, partly because I was able to spend more time looking around. They are not open every day - check the hours before going.

There is a slight confusion about the street. The address faces the courtyard/garden between St. John's Church and the house. Be sure to check the hours. There are times they have private functions and meetings during the opening hours - Thus they are closed. This happened the first time we came. But we were so glad we tried again. I... 更多

If you like historic homes, this is a good one to visit. Lots of period piece furnishings and a beautiful home that gives a sense of how the wealthy in Savannah lived during this period of history.

I loved this house! It is gorgeous and unusual (Gothic revival!). The tour explains with just enough detail the history and the architecture. It was interesting to see the details that made the house more livable in the summer. This included a dome at the top of the stairs that could be raised to let the heat escape. The tour... 更多

Beautiful, well maintained house! From the impressive front door, to the rest of the house, you will be amazed at the engineering accomplished so long ago.The plaster work and the beautiful chandeliers are also very impressive. The entire house is a treasure and should not be missed. Currently used as a parish house for the church next door, it is nice... 更多

You purchase the tickets at the door. You can walk around on your own I believe, but its better to take the docent led tour- about every 30 mins. Loved hearing about some amazing feats of engineering in the home. You do have to climb a large winding staircase. The docents were excellent. The house is actually used now as... 更多
