The day was great hot day. We arrived at Ocean Beach and headed straight to the Beach. The waves were great. Sand was a little hot but the beach was empty. It was great just sitting there and listing to the waves. We walked the beach and the local area had a late lunch at Flynn's. As usual food was... 更多
We went by boat, staying in Fire Island Pines Marina. You can also access the Pines by ferry from Sayville, with ample parking across from the ferry dock. The ferry from there also goes to Cherry Grove. Both of these towns are gay friendly and are also family friendly. The Pines is more upscale than the other towns on Fire... 更多
Fire Island National Sea Shores Island is amazing by day or by night. You can see so many stars! The beaches are pristine and the ocean is clear clear clear. We've been to almost every town on Fire Island. Check out the Sunken Forest for sure!
Can walk to the island from field 5 of robert mosses state park. takes about 45 minutes when walking with leisure. Can bike on the boardwalk also. Great views of the ocean and local wildlife ecosystem. Small town; no automobiles, relaxing and peaceful. Nice people and good food at some locals places.
Took a day trip to Davis Park, and the view to the Atlantic is quite spectacular. Very nice, soft, somewhat narrow fine sand beach. You're in walking distance to a casino restaurant, a bar with a good snack bar, and a grill, so don't worry about food. Be sure and keep good track of the ferry schedule. Ferry is very... 更多
Lucky enough to have friends who have a place in cherry grove so came down for a weekend getaway from NYC. Train, bus and ferry ride were easy to navigate and most enjoyable. Island itself is super friendly, welcoming and simply stunning. Went to the pub for a couple of drinks and after dinner walked up to the ice cream store... 更多
Visited Fire Island during visit to family home in Islip, New York. Cost us about $80 round trip,to ferry across bay. Nice ferry ride. Once there, it is rather unique with many restaurants and eateries. Very expensive though. Charming little houses with walkways to opposite side of island and beaches. Roving police officer on beach handing out $100 plus tickets... 更多
I have lived on LI for almost 50 years and I am still awed by the sunsets and sites on Fire Island. We visit Davis Park, Kismet, Atlantique, Sailors's Haven and Ocean Beach to name a few. Each spot has it's own charm. Watch Hill is probably what you mean by the National Seashore and this is a great place... 更多
We stayed at the Hyatt Regency, a 12-mile drive, and enjoyed this beach as well as the drive. The hotel is a completely different review - I would study hard before returning there - but this Fire Island National Seashore made the stay tolerable. The picturesque Lighthouse is a rarity, at least in my travels but it's beautiful! It was... 更多
