There are three parts to this gem. The exhibits which are constantly rotating but include such rarities as Alice in Wonderland and Barbar James Joyce and Moby Dick. The second part is the old house that the Rosenbach lived in with period pieces and many historic books. The third part, is actually off-limits without a special appointment which is the... 更多

Practically or should I say "literally" the only museum open today in Philadelphia. We were the only people on the 2pm tour and very grateful we were too. An amazing house and what a collection of books, manuscripts, book plates, ephemera they have. The furniture and the story behind it and the paintings etc is very interesting and we would... 更多

I have lived 15 miles away from Philly for my entire life and never knew about this gem. I wish that the city would promote this museum more. If you love books, or history, or the history of books; this museum is for you! It is not large, but the museum itself is housed in 2 former homes that are... 更多

I am a bibliophile and book eater of the largest proportions (by my own estimation) so finding this gem near our AirBnB in Rittenhouse last weekend was an absolute delight. We managed to snag an hourly tour and this DID NOT DISAPPOINT. You will not find a more well rounded and impressive collection of literature on this continent I don't... 更多

We found this literary gem in a travel book, and as a literary guru, I couldn't wait. Tours of the residential double townhouse ( one side was owned by author Maurice Sendak) are on the hour, and not knowing this, we arrived just after the hour, but were given a private tour. James Joyce handwritten pages from Ulysses, early Alice... 更多

This is a museum and library, you can make an appointment to see and handle the historic manuscripts, of which they have many great ones. There are wonderful hands-on tours that you can buy in addition to your admission ($15 I believe), led by knowledgable curators. They are personal and intimate and well worth the time. The house itself has... 更多

If you are into literature and/or rare books, this is a must-see. You can go on a tour, but better yet, just give them a call and tell them what books you would like to see and they will customize your visit. First editions from many famous authors, the notes from Bram Stoker's Dracula, the handwritten manuscript of James Joyce's... 更多

As a Philadelphian I try to visit or at least know something about everything my wonderful city has to offer, but I put off visiting the Rosenbach until this year. Oh my, why haven't I been here before! What a wonderful small museum. The Rosenbach offers a house tour which is definitely worthwhile, but their special exhibits excel. The current... 更多

Loads of history. Our favorite is the many pieces and history of Samuel Yellin whose metal work can be found in some of the most famous homes/buildings in America. Good stuff

I thoroughly enjoyed our visit here. We had seen the major sights in Philadelphia on previous trips, so were ready for something different. The staff were very welcoming and accommodating. Despite the lateness of our arrival, they gave us an abbreviated tour that took until closing time. The guide was extremely knowledgeable; she answered all our questions and told us... 更多
