At the Point - the Atlantic Ocean hits the shore - next stop might be Ireland! This is a remote spot - a car is a must. A year round 'wonder'. Camping facilities & trails available.
We are staying in Bar Harbor and ventured off Mt. Desert Island to go to the Schoodic Peninsula today. It was only about 45 minutes away. We went at low tide and were able to go out onto the rocks quite aways. I love hearing the sound of the waves hitting the rocks and you get plenty of that action... 更多
After stopping at the visitor center on the way to Maine and told to go to Schoodic for the drive and views, we did and WOW she was correct, Yes Arcadia has Cadillac Mountain which is a dont miss but this was wonderful, you can stop and get out but the water and views are amazing. Take the drive there... 更多
We visited Schoodic on the recommendation of a local boat captain and we were glad we did. Early in the season, we had the place almost to ourselves. The research institute housed in a former military compound that includes a beautiful building commissioned by John D. Rockefeller, Jr. is really cool. Lots of amazing scenery. It's certainly worth the effort... 更多
I loved all of my travels through Acadia downeast. Very quiet and picturesque. The drive on the loop was scenic and lovely. Waves, lighthouse on an island, and nature at its best. Prospect Harbor hosted us at at a B&B named Elsa's on the Harbor and that was wonderful. There isn't much going on, but I totally enjoyed that the... 更多
My grandson is working at Schoodic Head as a winter host and we visited him to celebrate his birthday. But, we got the real present. Lots of beautiful, freshly fallen snow (there was a blizzard a few days prior to our arrival) glistening in brilliant sunlight. Yes, it was cold and it was spectacularly beautiful. During the day, we hiked... 更多
Schoodic Peninsula is part of Acadia National Park but it is a 45 minute drive to the other side of Frenchman Bay near the town of Winter Harbor. If you need some solitude from Acadia NP busy roads this is the place to go. Few people and lots of unspoiled Maine coast
Beautiful place! The ocean views are spectacular! Picnic on rocks overlooking the ocean! Find a spot and just watch the surf . Whatever you do there Schoodic Point will become a favorite place to go !
The Schoodic Peninsula is a beautiful place to be , particularly during summer and fall. Good camping, rock climbing, wooded trails, lobster eating and neat galleries offering local and even international art and hand crafts. The arts and lobster festival during August are great family fun as well.
