Fall is amazing!! The migration of sandhill cranes is truly breathtaking. That's the only reason it gets three stars. And don't get me wrong, in summer we saw birds. But the trails are poorly marked and it's easy to get lost - especially Lupine "Loop". So be mindful of direction. Hot and little solace of shade in summer months.
We did the self guided auto tour and it was a great. We hiked some of the trails but we did have one issue....the roads and trails are not clearly marked in some instances on the paper maps and the billboard maps. Perhaps color coding would work better. It is a wonderful tour and we were able to see a... 更多

A very large refugee for much to offer a family or individual. Has a fantastic gift shop, an educational center for learning for all ages! A short video about the whooping crane project at the refuge as well. Many opportunities for youth to be involved in conservation as well. The refugee is a place to hike many of the trails,... 更多

We then spotted eagles a bit farther along on the trail. Then we went on the drive around the refuge and spotted more wildlife. The Red Headed woodpeckers were... 更多

After pioneer farming and draining of the natural wetlands failed the federal government used the Civit Conservation Corps during the depression to return the land to its natural wetland wildlife state as it had been when the Native... 更多
