We rode our bikes on the Southern tip trail from Kiptopeke State Park to the Refuge (2.5 miles) and had a great visit in the Welcome Center. Excellent interactive exhibits, an area for kids to explore, a bird viewing area, and several trails you can hike or bike.
Went twice in 2 weeks, first time with 4 yr old. Excellent interactive area for kids of all ages to handle/identify turtle shells, marine life bones, fossils, shells etc. nice movie for overview of the area. Birding room with binoculars. Learn that the area is part of the migratory path of the monarch butterflies and how they are "tagged". Walking... 更多
They have a really nice sensory exhibit in which you can experience various types of shells and bones. There is a wall of windows that overlooks the refuge and several telescopes and binoculars that you can use to closely observe the wildlife. We saw a deer and various birds. There is a nice gift shop. We enjoyed it!
We were driving to the Eastern Shore and hoping we'd find a good campground for the evening. Unfortunately, as we were looking things up we could only find campgrounds that looked very commercial. When we got off the CBBT we figured this would be a good place to stop and ask questions. The visitor center itself was a nice museum,... 更多
Located at the Southern tip of the Delmarva Peninsula at the mouth of Chesapeake Bay gave an expansive view of the marshes, bays and grasslands along with forests. We drove around in the wildlife refuge, went to the boat landing area. It was very quiet not much happening here but did accord a beautiful view of the bay.
This almost 1200 acre refuge is located at the southern tip of Virginia's Eastern Shore. It has a terrific visitor center, with a number of exhibits depicting the natural life of the area. There are some great hands-on displays, particularly good for children. There are only a couple of short hiking/walking trails. There is a canoe/kayak launch that has maybe... 更多
This should be everyone's first stop when coming into the area. They have an extensive amount of information about the history of the shore, as well as current day. The center is 100% volunteer operated which is very cool in my book. This is the beginning of the trail head for the half mile hike to the marsh overlook. The... 更多
Great information and the person attending the Center was friendly and gracious. Stop by the Center to get info on what to see and where.
