We had been going to Rockport for years and finally went to the this museum, which is across the street from the beach. Excellent displays and thorough write ups. You can spend an hour or spend the whole day.
very inexpensive place to wander around and look at a variety of exhibits - all related to the water - fishing, boating, even warfare. Small gift shop, elevator or stairs to the second floor balcony or third floor outside viewing area. Also an outdoor exhibit mostly related to offshore vessel aparatus
This was a nice maritime museum with several nice exhibits. We especially liked the one about La Salle's sunken ship the La Belle. The first floor is largely about this amazing part of Texas history and the recent recovery of this artifact in the Matagorda Bay. The upper levels are dedicated to other parts of maritime history liking fishing, shipping,... 更多
Small museum on the entrance to Rockport Beach. It is well maintained and has small exhibits, artifacts, videos, and placards that take you through the maritime history of Texas from La Salle to the present oil industry. Very informative and nicely done. 3rd floor observation deck. Plenty of free parking, entry fee is $8 for adults.
The Maritime museum is a great place to learn about all the bounty in the sea, and how the people of the Coastal Bend area have managed to make this a unique place to visit. All of the volunteers who man the desk are very helpful and can answer any and all questions you may have. They reall enjoy sharing... 更多
If you are in Rockport and have an hour or so, this museum is worth a visit. I particularly enjoyed the paintings of the lighthouses and the history behind each one.
Wanted something to do with some friends for an afternoon. Very nice museum, full of interesting martime artifacts and a brief overview by one of the volunteers. The view from the observation deck is worth the admission. Very well kept by the volunteers who run the place! Enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours!
