One would assume this would be a tour where you walk in, see his house, hear a bit about him and walk out. I was pleasantly surprised to get a history of Beale Street along with learning about W.C. Handy.
The home had been moved here from its original location and we almost walked right past it rounding the corner onto Beale Street. It is tucked back in a parking area near the corner of 4th & Beale.
W.C. Handy, the Father of the Blues, lived with his wife and 5 children in this tiny house during his time in Memphis. We were the only ones there that rainy morning, so our informative young docent had plenty of time to fill us in...更多
