Visited as part of bus tour to Flight 93 memorial. Speaker was excellent having been there during the 2002 rescue and knowing some of the trapped miners and rescuers. Appreciated being able to also tour the museum and outside items including the rescue capsule and drill bits. Also, just a few feet off the path is the location of the... 更多
This was our first visit to a place that celebrates the hard work of many unselfish people and God's many miracles that culminated in the joyous rescue of nine miners who were trapped the equivalent of 25 stories below the earth for 78 terrifying hours. I remember when this happened and our nation and the whole world was watching and... 更多
our hotel was as it turned out only 10 mins away, we made the drive and were glad we did, will come back again as we were too early but what we saw was interesting.
Too long a presentation, with inaccuracies and inappropriate references. The presenter admitted that she was not present for the rescue and then began to speak authoritatively about the happenings. I stopped to visit the Quecreek mine rescue site as it is close to the Flight 93 Memorial and glad that I did stop. They have the area where the rescue took place is like a little park now to tell the the story of the rescue.I spent about an hour looking around and reading the plaques.
The primary purpose of the trip was Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville and we were aware of the Quecreek Mine rescue site and so we added to the trip. It is a very quiet and serene spot and the story is compelling. We recommend this as a side trip if you are near Somerset Pa.
A short visit is all that is needed. See the actual spot where the miners were trapped, a capsule, small museum. Very easy to find. Friendly people.
