It is located outside of Checotah, Oklahoma. It is a gorgeous well preserved battleground that you can drive through. In the beginning of the place are a few stone monuments identifies the state the troops traveled from to fight on this field.
Driving through on I-40, thought the history of the place was intriguing. The road to the battlefield was littered, litter Aly, with huge canyon like potholes. The road crumbling. The website said " open now" but at 3:30 pm on a Saturday we arrived to a desolate, all grown up, area. Very sad, but save your time, not worth the... 更多
The temporary visitor center was closed during business hours. The signage had been vandalized but it also was unreadable as well due to sun damage. Would have liked to know more details. It was difficult to drive and locate to be disappointed. It is sad to see history being lost due to neglect.

Hopefully the... 更多

I forgot this battle existed until I saw the sign on the side of the road. It is an interesting drive back to the park. Its one of those drives that you second guess that you made a wrong turn. The informational placards and monuments were impressive for such a small site. It is amazing that people still care enough... 更多
This is a must see for any time and especially in November. We visited the site of Honey Springs Civil War Battlefield earlier this year and cant wait for the reenactment in November. The history of all that took place on this site gave me more questions of if my family had been in the civil war, who they were,... 更多
