A most interesting and fascinating insight into the military history of this area and the KOSBs in particular. To be recommended. A few more directional signs from room to room and to upstairs rooms might have been helpful.
My husband and son really enjoyed it with having a military back ground. It was very quiet even tho it was the Easter holidays. We got in with our English heritage member ship. I would say it's worth a visit parking at the door and it's free but will say you need your Northumberland clock on display so don't forget... 更多
As a group of four (with two children, one young and one aged 12) We had a very good Time! The barracks inside are museums and they have rooms relating to the war. As you walk in, there will be a large museum which isn't based on the war, but on Berwicks history. There's a great giftshop and children will... 更多
The farmers market was there and it gives an old fashioned backdrop to it to increase authenticity. The market prices are a bit high but the food is all of an excellent standard and very tasty. The wine and beer is also pricy but great quality.
Great place to spend a few hours, there's plenty for the kids to do here as well, lots of buildings to explore and some very interesting exhibits and activities
the barracks them selves as buildings are wurth a look. it is the oldest purpose built 17 cent barracks. inside there lots of display boards to read. a very good military museum to look at. it's a good history of the life of soldiers through the ages.
Access is through a cobbled entrance which you pay entry in the shop (3 steps up to get inside). Only one door has wheelchair access although they say they can get a ramp for you (none seen around or many staff to help put it in place if there was one). About 40% is upstairs with no lift etc as... 更多
Museum of the KOSB Regiment with a lot to see. Takes a bit of time to go round. Gives a good spectrum of life in a regiment with a lot of history in Georgian barrack block. Sadly the town museum was closed.
Tells the history of the Barracks and of the regiment based there. Very well done and interesting. The room containing the regimental silver is worth the admission fee on its own.I like silver and this is just superb. Assistant very chatty and helpful. Not a bad shop also. We purchased a couple of interesting items not available elsewhere. Need to allow... 更多
Lots to see, fantastic place but could have done with having a tearoom. Well worth a visit. Parking just across the street and handy for going into town centre for a browse.
