Located in the NE corner of NC. We go there several times a year to camp out and enjoy the area. There are several hiking trails and the rangers conduct guide hikes and can point out the history of the area and other things you might miss. If you like to paddle then bring your own canoe or kayak or... 更多
We visited this park just for a short walk- and had our 2 y/o son with us, he wanted to expore everywhere- under path and in water as well... So am not that sure it is a place for little kids, but i myself found it so interesting, mysterious and peaceful at the same time...Liked it a lot and would... 更多
Merchants Millpond is a hidden gem in the North Carolina State Parks system. Located in the sparsely-populated northeastern corner of the state, the park preserves a 200 year old millpond that had evolved into its own unique ecosystem. The best way to experience it is by boat. Kayaks and canoes can be rented from the park office or bring your... 更多
I lived in this part of North Carolina for a number of years before discovering this park, but once I did it became a regular destination. Great hiking trails and camp sites for both families and large groups. I've hiked the 2 mile Coleman trail nearly a dozen times over the years, but the very short Cypress trail is great... 更多
Canoe, hike or bike. Day trip or overnight camping. This is a beautiful Cyprus swamp. Most of the time it is lazy, but it can be disrupted by the sounds of wildlife. Speaking of wildlife, there are ticks here so bring your spray and check yourself or each other. Fly and mosquito pests will make themselves known too. We never... 更多
We rented a 4 person kayak for $5/hr and took the self guided paddle through this amazing coastal swamp. Wrong time of year to see alligators but we saw plenty of turtles, a snake and birds. Fabulous experience. Highly recommend for families with children in the 5 and up range.
It was the memorial day weekend of 2015, and I needed a long drive and a relaxing break away from the busy life at New York City. Drove from New Jersey to NC, via Delaware and I must say that the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel is just jaw dropping experience. Reached Millpond State park by 5pm, and started putting up... 更多
My family had a great spring break at the park! We took our kayaks and explored the millpond. Excellent place to paddle with sites that you don't see many places. The park is also only 1.5 hours away from Kitty Hawk so we spent one day exploring on the N.C. Outer Banks.
The fall is the best time to take your canoe to see this nice state park! Insects like ticks can be a problem in summer. Camp on one of the islands for a unique experience!
