This is a recent addition to Charlotte (last 5 to 6 years?) It takes you through the city and through neighborhoods, much of it along Little Sugar Creek. There is a bike rental area and many restaurants and some bars along the way.
Walking along this greenway, you'd be surprised you're still in Charlotte. It makes the city seem a lot more green than it is. It also stretches for quite a long ways, so start at one end and work your way through.

My friends and I used this for a central meeting point many times when running! There are many places to park along the trail. It's beautiful and clean. Just beware when it rains a lot--there is flooding!! But, there is always a way around it!!
