I am glad we stopped in during a great afternoon, but I did not feel that there was a lot of information in comparison to the many other railroad museums that we have been to. This is a good place to stop in for a quick visit or to pass a half hour.
Near the East End Seaport Maritime Museum and worth a visit... combine a visit here with the Riverhead Railroad Museum (You can take the scoot train between the two museums for a reasonable fare). Or combine a visit to this museum with East End Seaport Maritime Museum and Fireboat Firefighter Museum (just down the dock from the Seaport Museum and... 更多
The new addition to the village model showing the LIRR's transition from steam to diesel may have a way to go, but the original model is still worth the price of admission, particularly when you need a break from endless carousel rides. Generally open Sat and Sun mornings during the summer.

They have a parking lot. Buy your tickets in the little gift shop. (BTW, I thought the shirts in the gift shop were very reasonably... 更多
Seeing the inside of a real caboose and reading about it was fascinating. The rest was simply on railroad car of memorabilia. If you were really into the history of trains you might enjoy this but again, it is small.
With the additional of the multi-tiered, multi-tracked (8 different) tracks display from Lionel the museum has gone from very good to top-flight. It is enjoyable for all ages with some interactive opportunities that make it great for children.
Been there only the dead of winter for SANTA's arrival on the LI RR train....you MUST do this at least once with or without a child!
My son is a train afficiando and this was great. The model set ups were so intricate! these volunteers work so hard. All the displays were amazing. the people at both sites were very knowledgable. Get to the Riverhead site when it opens @ 10am and view that site. By a little after 11 take the LIRR to Greenport to... 更多
