Poe is one of the the greatest if not the greatest literary master and many don't know he struggled financially during his life. Any fan needs to see this historical treasure-thank God we have something tangible to remember his life and not just his writing to get a more complete picture of who this masterful poet and writer was.
What a great place to visit if you're a fan of Poe - the cottage is tiny and atmospheric, and gives you a little insight into the life and death of this great artist. The tour guide is excellent - he tells a the story well - really worth a visit.
Very important historically. Poe wrote some of his famous works here including “Annabel Lee,” “The Bells” and “The Cask of Amontillado." We took the subway and then walked. Did not feel safe at all. Do not recommend.
Guided tour of this small home was excellent and intimate -- just my group of three people. Do this in addition to the Bronx zoo or Bronx Botanical Gardens. It's the only house of its type left in the Bronx. You can take the tour in 30 minutes.
So surprising tot walk by and see this little sliver of literary history in the middle of a shopping district.
This small country cottage was Poe's last home before he died. The house is unique. It's the only place where you can see life as it was lived in the mid-19th century
This attraction won't take up most of your morning. There isn't much to see and not very interesting. Less than 30 min to complete the whole thing. Unless an extremely fanatic fan of Poe I wouldn't bother.
This is a very authentic piece of Poe history, being the home he wrote some of his classic works in and the home where his wife Virginia died. It is a small house, as Poe didn't have much money. The tour guide was excellent - very knowledgeable and energetic. It is a short visit (probably an hour tops) and well... 更多
Great to find such an historical landmark so close to the Bronx Zoo and White Castle Hamburgers. It's like an island in the middle of a very busy shopping location in the Bronx and kept up very well. Worth taking half a day to see.
This was the last home of Edgar Allan Poe. It is a modest cottage in the middle of the Bronx. The tour guide was very informative and enthusiastic. At the end there is a 17 minute film. He lived here when The Bronx was still considered "the country" I've been wanting to go for a while but it's only open... 更多
