My son and I inspected the new bridge at Long Pond Ironworks State Park last month; some of the funds were donated by the Janet Ross Fund, in honor of my wife and his mother.

The focus of this park is the ruins of the Long Pond Ironworks, which date to the 1700's. The rubble from the 18th century furnace is still there, as are the remains of the 19th century furnace and many of outbuildings.

This is a great place for a quiet walk in an area of historic restoration. There are several homes either restored or under restoration, a water wheel, paths and woods. It's quiet and extremely private
This 145 acre park contains the remains of three large iron works machinery, very impressive in their size and complexity.
There is also a visitors center and a small museum open on restricted hours spring, summer and fall.

See a number of homes dating to the early and mid-1800s. The visitor center was closed but a number of informational brochures were available. The homes were also closed up. Nice short walk….once you are away from the road it is a bit deserted. Great...更多
