This place is a 305 acre nature reserve with around 200 animals under care. The "mission" of this place is to preserve the planet's biological diversity and to secure the future of threatened bird species through rehabilitating injured birds, captive breeding, and other means. This is one of the largest facilities for bird conservation in North America and here you... 更多
This place started so small and has grown and grown over the years. It is an amazing place, started by an amazing man. It is best to go on a nice day, it is all outside and requires quite a bit of walking.
The World Bird Sanctuary is a delightful place to visit. It provides birds and reptiles to observe up close. and a lovely walk in the woods. It's a wonderful way to entertain children without a given fee. Of course, donations are always appreciated to this worthy facilty.
We were on a cross-country trip and we were looking for a few attractions that would allow us to stretch our legs (and our minds!). We stopped at the World Bird Sanctuary for a morning jaunt after staying at the nearby Drury Inn. The whole family (me, husband, and toddler) loved it. Lots of owls, eagles, and other raptors, plus... 更多
Hoooo'd have thought within the county of St. Louis there would be a wonderful bird sanctuary! Owls, eagles, hawks, and so much more. Check the calendar or call ahead for tours and programs. Another great St. Louis place to visit anytime of the year.
The founder of this establishment was a close family member of mine. It began as a love for birds & wildlife, and his passion and determination made it what it is today. It's amazing what has been accomplished through this organization. The Sanctuary is very nice and is in a great location. They also have a neat gift shop. Things... 更多
Took grandkids here after a stop at Lone Elk Park. They loved it! Great pictures of them in the eagle's nest. Loved all the learning stops in the park. Also, kids loved to see the birds up close, many of which were injured. The learning center was also really neat, especially for the kids to see the birds up close,... 更多
Our party of three adults decided to check out the bird sanctuary because we were already in the area. It was interesting to see the various birds, including many raptors, the bird hospital, education center, etc. Being a free attraction is a definite plus (donation box only). I'm not sure I'd drive out of my way to see this, but... 更多
We stopped early in the morning and saw only two employees during the entire visit. The Center had dozens of injured or rehabbed birds, some of which were in cages and some of which were on very short tethers in open areas so visitors could see them without cages. The birds included several bald eagles, golden eagles, a variety of... 更多
Many birds of prey can be seen close up, in several locations at the sanctuary. There is also a "hospital" -- visitors can observe activity through a window -- where hurt birds are tended. The sanctuary sits on treed acres outside St. Louis. Kids and adults of all ages will enjoy the rare opportunity to see Bald Eagles, hawks, vultures,... 更多
