The birth place is a short trail with several placards detailing the life of DuBois and his connections to the area. The area is beautiful and the trail is an interesting compliment to any trip. It is a must see for DuBois enthusiasts like myself but probably not an attraction in and of itself. It just feels like so much... 更多
Excellent signage explains the highlights of WEB DuBois' s life as you wander along a path through the U shaped parcel that at one time included his homestead. It's really just the signage as you walk along the path but you learn a lot from reading the well laid out and informative placards. Old photos and documents are included on... 更多
While it's only a marker, really, if you're in Great Barrington it's worth stopping by and seeing where this great American was born and where his life was shaped.
For thirty years my sons and friends and I, when summering in nearby South Egremont, would clear out the overgrown weeds and shrubbery around the tiny brass historical marker that designated WEBDB's boyhood home. So honored to have this in our town. He was a remarkable man in our history. It is a short walk with signs . Good parking and well worth the stop. Spiritual.

His birthplace cabin once stood here, but there is nothing here now. I am not sure why this "monument" to a great man exists in this place... 更多
Hopefully more will be done to expand this venue in the future. Currently it consists of a walk through the woods into a wetlands open area with a few informational trail markers along the way. There is no actual building to be seen.
Not much to see, but it is a lovingly, carefully, painstakingly curated spot. Mainly signs to read as the structures are long gone. But it is educational, informative and moving.
The W.E.B. DuBois Birthplace is a pleasant location, but realize that the house is gone, so you are just looking at a garden where the foundation was. The nearby river walk is pretty on a nice day. You can read a plaque about W.E.B., but you are not going to find yourself significantly more edified about the man, unless you... 更多
