The observatory building was air conditioned, which was a big plus on the hot day that we visited. A quick ride up the elevator and we were there. The tower has great information boards that show you what you are looking at, which was nice. It wasn't crowded at all, and we were able to casually enjoy ourselves before taking... 更多
I have never had the opportunity to go up a elevator to the top of a bridge as beautiful as this. It is a 60 second ride up and you can stay as long as you want. It is not necessary to go to Fort Knox to do this attraction. You can buy a ticket for the Observatory only.
I highly recommend a trip to the observatory at the Penobscot Narrows Bridge. You can see for miles on a clear day, and watch the boats going up and down the Penobscot River. It's a small room, so it would be difficult for large groups to go up together, and would not be recommended for people who are afraid of... 更多
You can buy a combination ticket to go to the top of this observatory and Fort Knox, which is right next door. For the observatory, there is a nice parking lot and rest rooms available. You take the elevator up and there are 2 floors of viewing. We stayed about 20 minutes.. you can stay as long or as short... 更多
The Penobscot Narrows Bridge ia awesome to see and drive over, but the real treat is ascending the elevator to the top of the observation tower. The Observatory is the first bridge observation tower in the U.S. as well as being the tallest in the world. The observatory room is 42 stories up and offers an astounding 360 degree view for... 更多
Even with the overcast, the view was still amazing. Great view of Fort Knox, the river and estuary. Can only imagine how much better it would have been on a clear day. Well worth a stop if you're driving between Bar Harbor and the lower coast.
Not everyone needs to go all the way to the top for a great view. However it is amazing. It is only open certain hours so make sure you view the web site first. Really miss the chance if you are visiting the area!!
Stoopped here on advice of guide books and person at Maine info center. It was worth the stop.Went to the top of worldès tallest observatory bridge 422 ft..Elevator gets you to top in under a minute and then you have a 360 degree view of the surrounding area. Some great pics and cheap at around $10.oo
It's worth it to stop along and head up to the top of the bridge's viewing tower to take a gander at the Penobscot River. It is a great place to get panoramic views of Maine's wonderful fall foliage.
