This old tree is interesting if you know the story of Evangeline and the Acadians. The whole history of the Acadians and their relocation to French Louisiana is very interesting and an important page in our history.

We visited the small park several times. It was neat and well maintained. We enjoyed the walkway by the water behind the oak.
When Longfellow wrote the poem "Evangeline" the old oak tree was the meeting place for the characters in the poem. That was 170 years ago and the majestic oak still stands. The village of Saint Martinville has done a wonderful job of memorializing this work...更多
Located on the Bayou Teche. There is a large Oak Tree. The tree is associated with a Longfellow poem "Evangeline". The park is small. There is a walkway along the Bayou.
