When touring St. Francisville you must stop in and take a tour of the Greenwood Plantation. It is a few miles from downtown St. Francisville and somewhat hard to find, but well worth your time. There have been many movies film on this site.
This home is noted for it's use in the filming of the North and South TV series. It is quite a ways in the country, so it is quiet and peaceful for a B&B. This home was burned to the ground by lightning many years ago. It was rebuilt by pictures from former tourists.
We drove 2 hours out of our way to visit this plantation due to being big North and South fans. When followed the signs for the house but when we got to the driveway there was a sign that said no tours were being given due to renovations. No place on their website does it say this!! I should have... 更多
We stayed at the B&B here, and toured the home. The rooms were all decorated in period drsign. They let you get a feel of what life was like "back then". The grounds were my favorite part. The great trees with the moss, the pond with the reeds, the long winding driveway. Amazingly beautiful.
Very informative and educational. Our tour guide truly made this phenomenal mansion and its history come alive. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. Unlike most tours of similar properties, we were actually encouraged to sit on the furniture and weren't told repeatedly to not touch anything. Wow. What a breath of fresh air. And, we weren't charged a dime for... 更多
We were the only visitors that day. We were welcomed to the house by one young lady, who came out to be the owner of the house. She told us incredible history of the house and how it is to be the owner, considering all the challenges and privileges. Hollywood is very welcomed guest in that house, lots of movies... 更多
Lovely setting. House has been restored. A little off the beaten path but a nice setting for a wedding and reception. The house is a three story mansion and the current family lives on top floor. The staircase is amazing I understand the house has suffered from at least one fire but has been restored
