I attended with 2 aviators and they really enjoyed it. It focuses on KY heroes and that's okay. I found interest in the people highlighted. You can sit in a Bell Ranger helicopter and a Cessna 150. It is not a huge museum and is next to Lexington International airfield.
Went for a visit of the museum at Bluegrass Field. The folks that show you around are friendly and knowledgeable. They have planes from the Air Force, Navy and National Guard as well as a lot of unusual private planes and a lot of stuff to look at. A worthwhile trip, especially in warm weather as you can get close... 更多
It took several years in Lexington before we made the time to see this museum. We had no idea it would be so nice. The docent was eager to share information on the exhibits and we were eager to listen. It was such a nice way to spend a rainy cold afternoon. If you have children with you they will... 更多
This museum was a little smaller than I had anticipated, but it still had several very interesting exhibits. They do have future plans to expand to a much larger facility which would be able to house some of the larger commercial aircraft.
The Aviation Museum of Kentucky is located across the ramp from the Lexington Passenger Terminal. So, you see the museum each time you arrive at LEX. I always drive by to see what they have placed outside so that some function can be held inside. There are a number of both military and civilian aircraft inside. I enjoy getting up... 更多
My first thought about an aviation museum in Kentucky was, "really, Kentucky and aviation, not much of a match". After visiting the AMK I was proven quite wrong. The AMK lets you explore and experience general and military aviation from all eras. They have a remarkable amount of authentic memorabilia. Did you know while the Wright Brothers were experimenting with... 更多
Interesting museum with recent and older aircraft for any plane buff. Also features an airport observation area where you can sit and watch planes go by. Lots military jets and WW2 planes in two hangars as well as a helicopter you can sit in.
Was here for a wedding rehearsal dinner. Ended up being a great location. The manager helped with set up and tear down. The aircraft are well kept inside the museum. It is worth checking out if you love aviation. They have some aircraft that you can climb/sit in as well.
