The site of celebrated statesman Henry Clay's original 672-acre estate that once grew hemp, tobacco and grain is now a museum and National Historic Landmark, where visitors can tour the reconstructed 18-room mansion, grounds and beautiful gardens. **PLEASE NOTE: The house is closed seasonally in January and February. We will open on our normal hours on March 1, 2016**

This is an exact replica; however, the pieces that are original are exceptional. Our tour guide was a open book on the history of Henry Clay. This house was built back to the exacts specs that Henry Clay laid out by his son, so it's not as if a stranger did it. The detail throughout the house are intriguing.

First, this is not the house Henry Clay build but an exact replica by his son, James, around 1856. The tour guide, Mike, was extremely knowledgeable about The Great Compromiser and the history of this house. Well worth a visit. The parking lot is on Fincastle Road next to the house. My husband and I had an amazing time touring Ashland. The house is absolutely beautiful. I wish we had been there later in the spring to see the flowers blooming in the gardens. Our tour guide was a wealth of information helping our group see the importance of Clay's time in early America.

This is definitely worth a visit. The house is amazing, and it has the furnishings of the Clay family and Clay throughout. The docent obviously loved the Clay story and the house and was very knowledgeable. The staff was friendly, and the grounds are beautiful. Definitely, don't miss this house.
