I have attended this powwow for 14 years now. It is a great way to learn more about native culture. Good for Boy and Girl Scout Troops and kids in general.

While making a visit to the famed PowWow in that area, we took a few moments to visit the park, the burial site of Cherokee Chiefs Fly Smith and Whitepath, and stepped inside the Heritage Center to learn more about the history of this difficult relocation. Lucky for us, the burial site gate had been unlocked for visitation (as is... 更多

This is a historical Cherokee site - a stop on the Trail of Tears march in the 1800's. It consists of a small museum with an awesome volunteer guide, who really knows her stuff! Doing this work is a labor of love for this woman. The site is important because there are so few Trail of Tears sites that tell... 更多

It is a quiet, pleasant place to walk. You don't have to go just to visit the museum. Don't forget to visit the graves of the two Cherokee Chiefs who died there.

We spent a little over an hour looking at the small museum, the grave sites and walking the trails around this park. My 8 year old really liked it and I found it to be very informative.

We learned so much more than we expected talking with the guide at this site. Don't be hesitant to ask questions. She's a true storehouse of information! The displays are well arranged too to show local history and the story of the Trail of Tears. There are also artifacts from other areas of the country. It's a great intro to... 更多

This stop along the tragic Trail of Tears catalogs an important history lesson. For a harrowing reminder of this difficult time in our history, visit the area and museum and see the historic and cultural pieces. For a good family trip with a more upbeat atmosphere, visit the park during the weekend after Labor Day that they hold the pow... 更多

The trail of tears park is not terribly large. It is easy to get around but it is grass and trail and so may be challenging for those in a wheelchair or moving with a cane. The park has a number of static displays and the center has some great items to review or even purchase. The park regularly hosts... 更多

The museum was closed when we were there but I'm familiar enough with the history and really went because it was an actual camp area from the Trail of Tears and because of the Chiefs buried there. Worth the stop even briefly. It is very unique.

Just viewing the jail and the area the people slept in was chilling. It was cold in the stone building and one's mind can only think of the hardships endured. Outside we walked to the gallows, but again, the kids did not want to stay there for long. So much sadness.
