We really enjoyed our visit to the Ft. Walton Beach Heritage Park, and the schoolhouse in particular. There are 4 museums/buildings to be explored for one very reasonable price. The schoolhouse was our favorite because my boy was encouraged to touch, explore and ask questions. The employee working at the building was very knowledgeable and friendly. We tried on bonnets,... 更多
Walking thru this original school house and observing much of the artifacts, I was readily taken back o some of my elementary years. For many baby-boomers, the desks are as they were then for us, The black chalk boards, etc. The an who speaks on the place is well able to answer any and all questions regrading this place. In... 更多
A must stop for anyone who remembers inkwells in their desks and rows of seat that were attached. This is also good for our children to see so that they can appreciate the advances in the tools used in education
I recommend having kids come here to appreciate the school they attend currently. The building is for the most part looks like it did originally. There are also two buildings out behind the school that are small but the same feel.
This Schoolhouse brings memories of the past to life for some and new ideas for others. The building, the accessories, the books, the furniture all present a wonderful look back into the way it was ....
Older schoolhouses and the like really interest me, so this was a win for me. Tucked back just off one of the main drags, it's hard to imagine a time where the schoolhouse stood alone.
This school house brought back many memories as I attended a school such as this. I'm sure others young and old would enjoy seeing how it was done in the good old days!
This is NOT handicap accessible in my book. You must go up a lot of steps and a mound to buy tickets in order to get in school house exhibit too. Too hard for walking with a cane.
Visited a year ago and found it's history and that of the City of Ft. Walton Beach interesting. For anyone living the in Okaloosa County it's really a required visit to learn more about your area. Many old and historic pictures on the walls.
Interesting & great history lesson. This place would be great for kids or for a classroom. It shows how life was years ago in the classroom. Cheap, & a hidden gem.
