Historic site with a great visitor's center. Lots of trails that give a view of the Florida of the past. Great picnic areas and an awesome playground for the kids.
This park has something for history buffs, hikers, bird watchers and paddlers. We visited early in the morning (in the month of July) as we knew it would "get right hot" as they say in these parts, not to mention that thunder storms pop up...更多
Payne was one of the clerks killed by Seminole attackers at the Kennedy-Darling "Indian" trading post located in the park, which was part of Fort Chokonikla in the so-called Second Seminole War, when the US sought to remove the indigenous native Americans from this part...更多
Great place to stop and visit. The visitors center has a history of the Seminole Wars and a site where a fort was built. Also has walking trails around the park which is great for seeing some wildlife. The trail also goes along the Peace...更多
If you like history, as I do, Paynes Creek Historic Park is highly recommended if you want to learn about the Seminole Indians and the US Military in Florida. Besides the history lesson, you can also hike, canoe and picnic.
