We stopped here as part of a day tour from Broome. Windjana Gorge is simply stunning. It is an amazing place to visit with such natural beauty. The worse part was that we only stopped for a short visit and wish it could have been for longer. There is space here allocated for camping which is slightly away from the... 更多
Walk back through time as you enter the gorge and the fossil-filled beds (trilobites as large as plates) transport you back to the Devonian era. The trees where full of birds and the river full of freshwater crocodiles. A few sand banks allow you to see the crocs sunning them selves - just don't be tempted to swim! The carpark... 更多
I was not expecting to much, having not been up to the Kimberly area before and having seen lots of canyons and gorges around the world. This place was really beautiful with several hidden surprises I did not expect. In the late arvo we went for a walk, lovely scenery, nice rock walls, hidden gems like fossils in the rock... 更多
We were part of a group tour, one of several that do the Gibb. Camp ground was spacious with flushing toilets scattered around and a shower block with hot water. The camp ground is located at the entrance to Windjana Gorge. The walk to the gorge is about 1/2 km over a well graded track, you walk through a natural... 更多
Hubby wanted to add this 'side' trip on after our brief stay in Cape Leveque, and as much as it wasn't a short detour it was well worth it. We came in from Derby and left out past Tunnel Creek. Not knowing much about it we were presently surprised by the facilities, showers and flushing toilets for $12 night ea,... 更多
The gorge is a short walk from the camping ground. There is no need to do the whole walk - the gorge, water and crocs are not far away and the highlight.
We drove to windjana Gorge from Derby it was about 180k's and well worth it. Fresh water crocs in the water and just resting on the banks. Advised not to approach too near which I never intended to go within ten metres!!! But it was good to see and our walk took about an hour, be aware some of the... 更多
Great place to see some amazing scenery, fresh water crocs in their own environment and some brilliant gorge. A must do if travelling through the Kimberly!!!
This ancient coral reef erupts out of the savannah and creates some beautiful scenery. We stayed for two nights in the 'quiet' camp area. Not so quiet as it was very crowded abd school holidays meant many families there to celebrate. Although the camping area is fairly basic the hot showers, flush toilets and water were a definite positive. Our... 更多
