Many years we have played this place...running up and down the hill sides, collecting berries on the lower banks and watching the traffic go by. The fort is small but still speaks of times we know not of except through books and studies but an awesome place regardless
As part of a day outing, we decided to stop in at the Fort, for a look. Driven by many times, needed to explore. Signage off 101 is poor, as is signage to find it once in town. GPS found it but it's a shame that something that is called a National Historic Site is so poorly advertised and promoted.... 更多
It is the oldest blockhouse in Canada and one of the oldest wooden buildings in the Province of Nova Scotia. It is located on a little hill and you can see for miles up and down the area. Well worth the visit
This site was very interesting as it is the oldest blockhouse in Canada and is located halfway between the Equator and the North Pole. Also in 1750 it was the detainment center for Acadians who evaded the 1755 deportation. A must see.
Loved the block house. Oldest in North America! touching the cannon! Awesome view over looking the travel bureau and the tide either in or out! walking trail as well.
