We visited at the tail end of high season and there were not crowds, almost no traffic and very few campers. It was quiet, beautiful ( but not rewarding this time of year for the rarities I was searching for ...)
Since I don't walk very well, we just drove through and looked at all the beautiful rock formations and visited the Ranger Station and had a nice visit with John and Tim. We saw some beautiful reptiles there on display.
We went in March and there was very little in the bird viewing arena, but there is amazing scenery in this area and a great place to visit for everyone that appreciates the outdoors.
Cave Creek Canyon isn't on your way to anywhere, out in the "middle of nowhere" basin-&-range country on the AZ / NM border. But for birding, camping, hiking & simply relaxing it's a destination unto itself. Beautiful, burbling Cave Creek flows down this mostly narrow...更多

This is one of the best areas for sightseeing, birding, hiking and relaxation. We camped and enjoyed every minute of it. Clean, well kept campsites surrounded by beautiful trees and the canyon walls. Many great birding spots can be found in the canyon and nearby.
