I really enjoyed exploring this site and its great for photography. I learned a lot about iron works and Birmingham's industrial history.

This is a must see! A totally unique experience. We didn't go on the tour, but next time we probably will. We just walked around (in some places we probably weren't allowed to) for about an hour and a half. Very cool place for someone that likes this ascetic.

The furnaces are an amazingly preserved part of American industry. When the furnace shut down years ago, they simply left the site in tact, as it had been since the 1920s. Preserving the site for tourists was apparently a long, difficult struggle, but it is now an open museum to the public. But they seem to be under-funded, because the... 更多

Great place but when we went to the NEW visitors center all the doors were locked. We saw employees inside but they wouldn't open the doors even though the website said "open". One lady had her arms crossed and said no. Why have a center if you don't let people in. At the old visitors center...Jane was very helpful, informative... 更多

This is worth a stop by anyone travelling through Birmingham. It should be one of the first stops by any history buffs visiting the city. This landmark is a monument for what made America great. Expect to spend a lot of time. It is free.

We were visiting my daughter for Thanksgiving and made two trips to the Sloss Furnaces. After an informative introduction we were left to explore on our own. There could be better interpretive signs or functioning audio guides but it was great to explore and use your imagination. Wonderful photo opportunities. Beautiful brickwork and old machinery. On our second visit we... 更多

A free, hands on, self guided tour of an iron forge. The kids loved it. Lots of walking. Not recommended for the immobile or strollers. Helps gives perspective to the history of Birmingham. A great take that won't take your whole day.

My husband and I visited Sloss Furnaces during a day trip to Birmingham from Atlanta. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I actually learned a lot. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and it was nice to experience a walking tour.
