We had a very nice tour of the Carlyle House and learned of Alexandria's history through the Carlyle Family. They have made a connection to the current PBS series Mercy Street. It is always interesting to see the places that art imitates.

Well worth the $5.00 admission fee. We visited in October when the house is draped in black as though for a funeral. Interesting information about how they honored the dead back then.

We were too late to go inside to visit, the exterior of the building and grounds are beautiful. Great picture spot too. Would return for a visit if possible.
