An interesting sculpture on the opposite side of the road from the museum at the entrance to the Park. The sculpture depicts Dante's 9 gates of hell, overwritten by peace in multiple languages, to which a 10th gate has been added representing the hell of nuclear war.
Across a busy road from the Peace Memorial Park. There are too many other memorials in the vicinity that render this monument unmemorable.
Hopeful for the future. The whole park is worth strolling through to absorb the atmosphere. The gates are just one part of the whole complex dedicated to the victims of the bombing of Hiroshima.
If it wasn't for one of the park's maps pointing out the Gates of Peace, I would not have gone to see it. It is directly across the street from the Peace Memorial Museum. On the gates are inscribed the word "peace" in many languages.
