It’s a place where the ground floor is actually the 20th floor, and GPS is essentially useless—which is why having Jessie as our guide was the best decision we made. She navigated the complex layers of this city with the grace of a local and the insight of a historian.

If you’re a foodie, this tour is a dream come true. From tasting traditional skewers on the street to sitting down at a local hotpot, the flavors were bold, authentic, and addictive. What made it even better was how China Explorer Tour guided us through neighborhoods we would never have found on our own. Every street corner revealed a piece of Chongqing’s vibrant culture. The evening in Hongya Cave and along the riverbanks was pure magic. Stilted buildings lit up with lanterns, reflections dancing in the water, and the buzz of locals and tourists mingling—it felt like stepping into a movie set.

This day felt less like a tour and more like slowly getting to know a city. We walked through layered streets, climbed stairways that seemed to lead in every direction, and paused often just to take it all in. Our guide Jessie shared small details—how locals live, why the city is built this way, where people actually hang out—that made everything feel more real.
One of my favorite moments was simply standing at a viewpoint, watching the river cut through the city while fog rolled over the buildings. It was quiet, unplanned, and surprisingly moving. Chongqing is a city you feel more than you understand, and this tour captured that perfectly.

I thought I’d start my China trip slowly — you know, ease into the culture, maybe drink some tea, take a gentle walk. Instead, China Explorer Tour threw me straight into Chongqing’s spicy chaos… and honestly, I loved every second of it.
We wandered up and down those 8D roller-coaster streets, tried hotpot that nearly set my soul on fire (in a good way), and visited a temple so peaceful I briefly considered moving in. The whole day felt fun, smooth, and totally stress-free. Lesley planned everything so smoothly that all I had to do was show up and enjoy. 10/10 would get burned by hotpot again.

I spent the day in Chongqing feeling completely free to explore and enjoy— the mix of sights, smells, and flavors kept me energized the whole time. We got to a neighborhood hotpot buzzing with locals, diving into dishes I'd never even heard of (hello, duck intestine!). Then, we stumbled upon this hidden gem of a temple, tucked quietly behind the modern streets. The shift from the city's energy to that pocket of peace was unreal. Our family of three had an amazing time in Chongqing thanks to China Explorer Tour. The itinerary was spot-on—balanced, interesting, and easy to follow, so we never felt rushed. I came to Chongqing with one goal: to taste real “mala”—and the city did not disappoint. We hit up tiny, low-key hotpot spots that looked nothing special, but every table was full of locals—which is always the best sign. With the guidance from China Explorer Tour, I ended up in the right neighborhoods, finding the most authentic joints I never would’ve discovered on my own.

Walking through Laojun Cave, with the incense curling in the air, felt like stepping into another world—so calm and ancient, I just had to pause and take it all in.
Our guide Lesley was a total rockstar—super knowledgeable, friendly, and just genuinely excited to show us the real Chongqing. I felt like I was hanging out with a friend who happens to know everything about the city.
