if you have time this is the place to visit , one hour from Capital , this is nice garden cum picnic spot, nice flora and fauna. well kept , you will see some local varieties of Nepal in flowers and plants , good place for birding too.
It's a great escape from the dust and filth of the city and the pond with it's 7m commemorative pillar is stunning. And that's about it. I went to see the new biodiversity garden which was planted in a collaboration and to celebrate the union between the UK/Nepal. You can see lots of native fauna that are trying to be kept and re-introduced to the landscape. They're is also a wonderful orchid house and colourful terrace.
The botanical gardens located about 25 km from Kathmandu, is laid out in a fairly large area and makes for a refreshing walk amidst shady trees and a meandering stream. A good picnic spot. Filled with greenery (Duh!), there are also some artificial waterfalls around. There's an entrance ticket as well but its pretty cheap.

National Botanical Garden is situated inside godavari park which 25km south of kathmandu , the place is well known for picnic and other similar activities.
Maybe it's the wrong time of year, but I was somewhat underwhelmed by this place. Not much was in bloom and it was full of young couples posing for romantic photos or giggling groups with selfie-sticks.
