I played the south course which is very scenic with the views of the ocean. This is a tough course where the hazards include lava rocks, sand and water. Some narrow fairways and sloping greens. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
I had the pleasure of playing two rounds of golf (North and South) and in both cases, the course was in magnificent shape and challenging while still maintain a resort course that could be played by amateurs.

The views on the South course are outstanding with three ocean front holes. On one you actually shoot over an inlet. Pretty intimidating but not actually difficult. This course seems to be better maintained than the North course with is appreciably dryer. This is not to say that it is poorly maintained though. Liked both courses, but preferred the south...
Perhaps many will recognize these 2 courses by their old name, the Mauna Lani North Course and South Course, which is what they used to be called.
We played the North course at 1:09 mid week. Their "sunset rates" start at 11:45 for $145 versus $195 for morning tee times.
