For some reason we liked the Iron Horse. Probably some combination of the history and the incongruity of the location. It's approximately 20 miles out of Athens.
This is not a destination site. It is an iron sculpture in the middle of a field. I have driven past many times, but never would I stop. Nothing to see here.
So driving along a two lane road outside of Watkinsville, GA pops up this IRON HORSE statue in the middle of a field!!!! With visitors parking!!!! Hahaha!!! So stop because it is pretty cool!!! Climb on it carefully and take a picture!!!
Hard to believe this is actually a listed attraction. If you don't know it's there you will miss it for sure while driving from Athens to Greensboro on Hiway 15. At least it is up on a mound so you can see it but it...更多
This horse is out of the way, really out of the way! But I found it awe inspiring, out in the middle of a field, and yes, it's on private property, very grateful they let people visit. I can see how it would have been...更多
Originally this sculpture was at the UGA Campus. Many years ago was given away and this Farmer,very near the city limits of Greensboro place in a very High spot near Highway 44.
