we experienced the sandhill cranes arriving at 0715 on the spring forward sunday in march amidst a red sky at morning to the east and a full moon hovering over the mountains to the west. oh how grans it twas.
There is no Visitor Center most days, since they are run by volunteers. The refuge is a large area of fields for the Sandhill Cranes plus 4 "Wildlife viewing pulloffs" alongside highway 15. This lets you get pretty close to the cranes. It is a...更多

My son had heard that Sandhill cranes were migrating through this Refuge. We saw about one hundred cranes. Also saw many varieties of ducks and other birds.
