This is great because it has dog friendly trails. It also has a fairly long section that is paved and was plowed during the snow so we were able to go here one day when we didn't have time to go all the way up to Bear Valley to go skiing.
This trail is great in that you can go as far as you want with young family members in tow. While uphill we found it very do-able even for the inexperienced hiker.

We parked near the Cedar entrance and walked into start the trial at post 5. We were glad to have stopped at the ranger station to pick up the map ($1) before we started. I absolutely love this trail, and so does my dog! Gentle maintained trail through the pines, redwoods, and blooming dogwood trees. Great for all ages...
I've ridden the ART from the Logging Museum down to the Calaveras ranger station. It ranges from very easy to very difficult riding. The first mile or so from the Logging Museum is paved double track and fairly flat, so a family with young children could get a good taste of the forest with a 2 mile out and back.... 更多
