You don't have to be an avid biker to tackle the long downhill (2 to 4% grade) decent from White Haven to Jim Thorpe. But even making an uphill run in the opposite direction is not difficult as long as you are in reasonable shape. (You can rent bikes and secure return transportation in either town.) Many places to stop... 更多
A truly enjoyable ride with plenty of great views. The trail is well maintained and offers a great riding surface. Plenty of picnic areas to enjoy a lunch or snack.
The Lehigh Gorge Trail is A second home to my wife and I . We have spent A lot of time on the D & L trail from Mountain Top to Jim Thorpe. Very scenic , very well taken care of . Lots of places on the trail have boards up to explain the area and history of the area.... 更多
Every time we hit JT we do some of the trail. It is such a gentle ride both above and below JT. The river is great and at the right time you see kayaks and rafters enjoying the water. You can get shuttled up 15 or 25 miles and ride down, or you can ride right from your hotel up... 更多
We biked the 25 mile trail from Whitehaven to Jim Thorpe on a Friday afternoon . We took one of the shuttle buses from the bike shop at 11 am . It had one drop off for bikers doing the 15 mile route from Rockport . Once in Whitehaven you are close to a market if you chose to but... 更多
We took the shuttle bus from Pocono Bikes and Rental from Jim Thorpe, PA. We did bring our own bikes although Pocono bikes do offer bike rentals. We parked in the parking lot by the train station ($6 per day). It is about a 25 minute bus ride to Rockport where you get dropped off with the bikes. We did... 更多
We rented bikes at pocono bikes and rode the shuttle up to 15 mile point. It is downhill and leisurely. Took about 3 hours because we stopped to enjoy the beauty several times. There are no bathrooms on the trail after you leave the drop off point. It was about $80 for both bikes and the bus ride up. Very... 更多
We traveled on a whim to see the Glen Onoko Falls. Make sure you wear the proper hiking shoes and attire. This is no joke! The bike trail is an easy ride, with beatiful scenic gorges, rail bridges, and follows the river. If you decide to do some hiking, sneakers or flip flops won't cut it.
I rode the trail on 90 degree day from White Haven to Rockport using Whitewater Challengers bike rental and shuttle service. Despite the heat the trail is pretty shady and the river I think keeps it cooler. The trail is smooth, it wasn't crowded and there are great views of the river and old locks. I love nearby but have... 更多
