The station from the outside is quite spectacular , but on entering the station you go back in time ,its worth a visit as you can imagine all sorts of people coming through the station from by gone times
It was a very nice building, but unfortunately since yeras there is no sign to renew it. The building is in a terrible condition. The information system is very bad. The station itself is absolutely not clean. If there is no absolut necessity avoid it.
Went to the station to take a train to the City of Pecs. The station looks just like the ones you would see in old world war 2 movies. The only thing missing (thank goodness) was the storm troopers
I agree w the other reviews -- it is nice to take a photo, but then get out of there. The clientele is a little dodgy and there is nothing to do besides take a photo. Architecture is gorgeous, though
Nyugati railway station is one of three railway stations in Budapest, which will help travellers get around the country. The Nyugati, commonly called, is one of the oldest terminals of Budapest. It stands alongside Grand Boulevard (Teréz körút). This impressive building, designed by the Gustave Eiffel Company, was opened in 1877. It was built 12 years before Eiffel Tower in... 更多
As most railway stations, it can be a bit too busy and a bit dangerous. Be careful with your belongings (there might be pickpockets on the area). Also a good place to find some cheap food.
It really is an impressive building but it seen better days. Clearly government funds aren't forthcoming when it comes to re developing the site. Dont expect a friendly greeting from the grumpy ticket service operatives. My god they are miserable. They dont do eye contact either. Maybe thats their way or they just had a bad day
Station is architecturally interesting but it very run down, dirty and in poor condition. Traveling by train and bus to the airport as we sadly later read on a Trip Advisor is for the adventurous and we can lay claim to now being that...this is the place to hang the expense if you're 50yr old travelers and just pay for... 更多
Truly amazing station in terms of architecture. Surely worth a visit. Not too far from the city centre either. Cen get a bit noisy and crowded. On the side note: this station was designed by the company of famous Gustave Eiffel, but probably not by the man himself.
