We were on holidays and came to the observatory on a clear night. If you follow the fantastic clear directions on the website, it's easy to find and about 20 mins out of town. Considering that we've been star gazing in Atacama it's not the best night sky we've seen. But John's quite knowledgeable and showed us a few star clusters and Jupiter with it's four moons. If you are looking at doing something more than just wine tasting while at mudgee, definitely worth a visit.
Brilliant for the family - how exciting to look at the star birthing suit, clusters and all those things you can't name. The moon in its beauty and just understand more about the universe with a cup of tea - lovely night for all.
You certainly don't expect to see this level of observatory in a little town like Mudgee, kids will love how John shares his experience and equipment with you. Cheap outing while visibly Mudgee that everyone will remember for ever, bookings essential.
