Our 9 and 5 year old kids had a lot of fun feeding the reindeers. It's really nice to see these animals and to be able to get close to them! Though separated by a fence, the reindeers came really close enough in order to eat the feed from our hands.
While sailing up to Murchisonfjord of Svalbard, by chance, we were lucky to see groups of reindeer eating arctic flowers. They seemed to be quite acceptable to us clustering around to take pictures on them and photographers were all happy with the result.
We visited the Ice Hotel and Gabba Park on a day in Kirkenes. We didn't expect it to be anything special, but the local guide was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable. The visit to the Ice Hotel was really fascinating and quite beautiful. Although the reindeer looked a little miserable, the husky dogs were just fabulous and so friendly. Feeding time...
