This is one of the better preserved stone circles I've come across and whilst others have commented on the surrounding trees obscuring the sun I wandered down here after 7pm and found it very relaxing. There's an honour system for donations at the gate (€2) so open all hours it seems. Worth the 3-4 minute stroll from the town centre.
This is self guided & deposit modest fee in honesty box. While not as impressive as better known sites, this is still an important glimpse of Ireland's prehistory. Beautiful views.
This is one of the megalithic sites which is rather close to a village. It is well maintained and provides good information about the site. The tree with well wishing notes was curious like the altars you see in some Roman Catholic churches.
If your image of a stone circle is of huge stones you may be disappointed and these are not huge. Still we enjoyed hanging out here to take in the energy
Stone Circles are an amazing part of Irish history and when you understand, as much as they can be fully understood, their role in the culture and religions of societies thousands of year old you can further appreciate the experience of being in their presence. Nothing too great about this... but its like someone's back yard... yes... it is done up pretty neatly, but what you see in the photos, thats all there is to it... there was some construction work going around the next plot, so when we were there, we were pretty annoyed by the noise. Nice for a quick photo or two...... 更多
Nice small, well kept stone circle with a fairy tree on walking distance close to the centre of the charming town of Kenmare. Worth a visit if you are in Kenmare and love ancient history.
