Sanitised and complacent view of this bloody war. Almost complete absence of mention of contemporary critics - the socialists, pacifists, strikers, mutineers, revolutionaries, poets, writers who opposed it during the war. No mention that Haig and Foch are viewed today by many as mere butchers. So much is missing. Don't visit this museum - our forefathers deserve better
The museum is situated on the site of the First Battle of the Marne and is a modern building commemorating the events of the First World War, particularly in the Isle de France area. The museum is full of interesting artifacts but I felt that it could be better laid out. Initially you are taken through an area dealing with... 更多
Went on a wet Sunday. The first Sunday of each month is free, saving the very reasonable €10 usual entrance fee. The museum is well laid out with plenty of interactive exhibits. The €2 option audio guide would be useful for non-French speakers as inevitably much of the display is in French only. That said, the key points for each... 更多
Spent about an hour in the museum. Bit outside of the city center with big parking. Huge modern building well organized to explain to kids and adults about the 1st World War. Short films to see every now and then through the visit. We went there between Christmas and New Year and it was not very busy. We got a... 更多

The Great War (WWI) museum in Meaux was not mentioned in any of my guidebooks, but when I told French friends I was going to visit several WWI monuments east of Paris, they said this was a must see. Seemingly a bit out of the way but accessible by train or car from Paris, the Museum of the Great War... 更多

Visited this museum one day. Easy train ride to/from Paris. We took the bus from the Gare to the museum. Was not crowded at all. Very nice exterior and the exhibits were well done.
Thank ou very much PeaceCorpsNorm. 更多
Not sure why this museum isn't busier, perhaps it's too out of the way for most people? It is an impressive piece of modern architecture, in the midst of a large field. Lots of free parking. Closed Tuesdays! 10€ entry. The access is over some paths complete with the projected sounds of horses drawing cannon-carts, and marching soldiers, building the... 更多

I planned a detour to our route to south west France to take in this museum and having been in the Somme in the morning I think on reflection I would have preferred more time in the Somme. The building is striking by its architecture but its entrance is unusual - from an almost deserted car park along a path... 更多

The architecture and the parkland surrounding the museum are impressive. The exhibitions are definitely well worth seeing. There's a good sense of spaciousness. It wasn't too busy during our visit. It's true that the cafe didn't seem to be available.
