Well worth a trip for Klimt fans, this is a beautiful building, build around Klimt's original studio, which has been preserved, with lots of helpful information available.
It is great to get to his home and studio after seeing his work featured on coffee cups and refrigerator magnets. It is one way to get back to the kind of life he must have lived in the outer neighborhood of the City. Visit his garden, home, neighborhood and see some of his art. Special away from the crowds.
Klimt's atelier is located in a residential area and can be reached by tram 58A from Hietzing (stop Feldmühlgasse Verbindungsbahn). This is very much off the beaten track but well worth the journey. It is three U-Bahn stops further on from the Schonbrunn Palace, and then five minutes' walk. I am a Klimt lover, and last week we visited Klimt Villa in Vienna. I was disappointed with this attraction. The admission fee is 10 euro, and there are only four to five rooms to see.
