There is not much to see of the castle but the panoramic view is magnificent. The climb up is quite a work out. Health and safety have not been here, perhaps as well.
This was our favourite place in North Cyprus. Very few people here and stunning views. The drive from the west was a bit difficult a we got lost a couple of times but although it is not as complete as St Hileron, we thought the isolation and quiet made this a better castle to visit. You need a car though!... 更多
We went here after a round of golf so it was getting late in the day. We did find the road to it easily which for northern Cyprus was amazing. There is a cafe bar at the turn off looked dry authentic wooden bar and cafe. We turned right to see a sign for the castle 6 kilometres. The road... 更多
Beautiful castlecheap entry. set in the heart of Kyrenia on the sea front, you can just wander around this castle exploring by yourselves, do go up on the roof for amazing views! There are so many interesting rooms,an art gallery, loads of interesting ancient artifacts from the shipping era and an amazing courtyard with trees and a small outdoor cafe... 更多
Despite reading the earlier reviews of this site we were not prepared for the extreme conditions of the very scary narrow and winding road, the lack of signage going to the Buffavento Castle and the lack of information at the carport before ascending the stairs. For those who decide to go here, I liken it to going on a 'Black... 更多
History you can touch and feel, a really steep climb up uneven stairs to get to the top but once up there what a view of both sides of the mountain range do some research before you go and you can really understand why it's there and how it all evolved.
We were almost put off by previous reviews which said it was really strenuous. It's definitely not for the totally unfit, but we managed it no problem, as did our two teenage girls. The views from the top are spectacular; it must be one of the only places you can see both sides of the Kyrenia Hills. The drive to... 更多
This is the highest and steepest of the three crusader castles. There are well over 200 steps to climb. Guidebooks state that the path is a poor one but in fact the path was recently relaid in cement and is quite easy for those without walking difficulties. There is however one point near the very top where you do have... 更多
Extreme castle visiting this. Road to it is narrow and precarious but beautiful. A substantial climb on foot in intense sun but views are incredible and the ruins are also amazing. Not much interpretation and no refreshments nearby so you need to be prepared. Loved it.
the road to Buffavento is the real adventure if they dont fix it. there are countless stairs to to castle, but it really worth the effort, i would like to live there, the view and the castle is priceless.
