Set inside the Braganca castle tower, the military museum offers lots of displays and information on Portugal's turbulent military past. The various rooms are on the many floor levels of the tower and contain artefacts and objects, with plenty of information about them. We were lucky enough to get a guided tour by the museum director, Paulo, who was very... 更多
Covering a wide historical range of military artefacts this collection within the castle makes it a perfect setting. Coverage of the Peninsular War was particularly interesting.
It is easy to visit the Military Museum by accident, as we did. We hadn't really set out to see it; we were only really interested in the castle. But the museum is housed within the castle and as you enter the castle you pay a fee - we thought it was to get into the castle but in fact... 更多
Extensive collection made all the more inpressive because of its display in period building. Worth a look to see the development weaponry over time.
This is housed inside the castle and is inside the keep. Some very interesting military artifacts here including guns from the 18th century, swords, medieval body armour, medals, uniforms etc. Really worth spending the time to look at and appreciate. Open 10am to 5pm daily. Public toilets inside the castle. Parking at the bottom of the Citadel that is free.
A small museum about Portugals military. Mostly guns and clothes and a history lesson. There was a dangerous staircase to the roof but it was locked when we was there. For a two euro entrance fee it was not bad.
A very nice museum in great surroundings. Here you can see a bit off all the military scenarios of Portuguese army since Medieval ages until our days. It deserves a visit.
There is very little information about military museums in Portugal, so this one took me by surprise. Well kept, extraordinarily well maintained and the type of Museum that allows you to touch and feel history rather than just stare at it in glass cabinets. Very cheap admission. Check timetables before visting, though.
The museum is in the central fort of the castle area of Braganca. The castle area is an easy walk from the center and is free. This museum inside the fort has a low entrance fee and well worth it. Inside are interesting displays of the military history of Portugal. The displays are over a number of levels which you... 更多
