The marina probably isn't worth visiting alone, but if you're in Horta a stroll along the front past all the murals painted by crews from boats stopping in the Azores on round the world trips are interesting to see as is the old fort, although it's a restaurant, rather than a museum, so you can't really explore it.
the "google" for who's Who in the sailing World. Appreciate the mural paintings left by crews from the boats ever stayed at Horta Marina. A good place to walk around and forget stress.
Arrived tired and hungry. Marina staff quickly checked my yacht in. Very courteous and efficient. The staff had good suggestions for food and beer. The Marina is very safe. Beautiful paintings on the concrete sections. Peter's Cafe Sport looks over where I was penned.
The drawings from boats passing through are very interesting, but apart from that it's just a Marina. The Marina cafe isn't much, although the member of staff was quite friendly. The facilities for visiting yachtsmen are clean, but very basic. Not the worst Marina I've been in by a long way, but not the best.
Harbour with yachts that will make the crossing. All that is happening in Horta is happening in the marina. Their are some bars (simple but nice) for nice and cheap drinks. Also most of the hotels are around the marina. It's fun to look and al the drawings in the marina. Tip: Peter Sport Cafe!
We have visited the marina on many occasions and it never disappoints us. Staff are helpful and courteous, facilities such as showers are adequate but need updating soon. The friendly bar at the marina offers a limited amount of food but sells ice creams and drinks and is usually pretty busy. Wifi is good.
The harbour is a collection of seafarers voyages to Horta, the images telling thousands of stories. Some of the paintings border on the epic. All tell a little story. Wonderful to walk around and grab a beer at the harbour cafe after.
Walking around here, watching all the paintings left behind by those who will sail the world, makes you want to get on a boat too. Nothing spectacular to see but buy and icecream or something to drink and have a leisurely stroll around, taking it all in
So quaint and a perfect place to go for a nice stroll, enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner, and take in the beautiful views without too many crowds
