While this Basicilia is not the most ornate in Lucca it is still worth a visit because of its age and historical significance. It is a very large well constructed building with different sections added at different times.

Gold painted unlike others in the city. There's not a whole lot to eat, or see in this piazza but this church is my favourite from the outside.
The artwork on the outside of this Basillica is as impressive as the inside. This is just one of several impressive pieces of church architecture in Lucca.

Very cool church in Lucca. As you make your way around Lucca you may as well take time to stop here. The mosaic on the front is top notch.
With origins back to the Irish Bishop of Lucca (Frediano) this church was the headquarters of a community of Augustinian canons. St. Frediano himself is buried under the altar.
