Do not be put off by trying to make your way up to this temple. The views over the Strait of Messina and the town are magnificent. Tempio Votivo di Cristo Re is an amazing War Memorial with beautiful views of the city and harbor. It is well worth the long hike up to it. Remember to go before 13:00 as they seemed to be closing for lunch.
Unfortunetly, by the time of our visit this place couldn't be visit (only, if you choose the guided tour which took about an hour, which we didn't). The architecture is really beautiful and Messina view from here is really spectacular. Despite the fact that we didn't enter the church, we have no regrets that we saw at least the building... 更多
The view from up here is spectacular. You can see the whole natural port underneath you and most of the city and also the Santuario della Madonna di Montalto opposite your position on a neighboring hill. Furthermore there are volunteer guides at it's entrance which offer free 20mins tours to whoever is interested in many languages. The languages I'm sure... 更多
